Creating community in Northern Ireland

We showed our continued support to the hard-working and dedicated NHS staff as well as announcing our partnership with Cash for Kids Northern Ireland – supporting the country’s most vulnerable children.

With the opening of new restaurants in Bangor and a planned site in Belfast, we have turned its attention to the Northern Ireland branch of the charity.  We have been a passionate supporter of Cash for Kids for years in its home city of Glasgow and actively fundraises across Scotland.

To kick off the new partnership in true Italian style, we parked our mobile Pizza Truck in various locations in Belfast and Bangor across November and offering slices for £1. Members of the public are welcome to come down and sample the goodies with all proceeds being donated to Cash for Kids.

Ulster Hospital on the 8th of November saw us dishing out close to 1,000 FREE pizzas to the incredibly deserving NHS staff – tap link to see feedback!

Our stops on the Cash for Kids mini tour were South Eastern Regional College on the 9th and Bloomfield Shopping Centre, Bangor on the 10th.

Cash for Kids operates across 22 areas around the UK and Northern Ireland with the mission of improving the lives of disadvantaged children. Recent statistics show that 110,000 children in Northern Ireland are living in poverty. Cash for Kids NI channels the caring of local communities into the welfare of youngsters, delivering initiatives for sick and underprivileged children across Northern Ireland and giving the most disadvantaged a brighter future. Every year millions of pounds are raised for local children and young people, suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance. Collectively Cash for Kids raised over £23 million in 2017, supporting more than 709,000 children.

Tomas Drovandi, Tony Macaroni NI added: “For us at Tony Macaroni, giving back to the local community is really important to. We are excited to support the NHS locally and work together with Cash for Kids. We hope we can make a difference to the local area.”

Tony Macaroni, which is part of the Viva Italia Group, opened its first restaurant in 2007. Since then, the group has expanded to having 19 restaurants under its umbrella and currently employs around 700 people, across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Celebrating World Pasta Day

We are celebrating World Pasta Day with a ‘Fresh’ new Menu and a Truck Load of Chilli.

To celebrate World Pasta Day today, we are launching a new menu with a fresh slant. Since it began in 2007, our chefs have been serving up the freshest ingredients in their dishes to patrons across Scotland. The new menu will emphasise this and highlight the quality and freshness of the food, as well as having a new chilli twist.

Chefs currently use 54 tonnes of chilli each year, in our 15 restaurants across Scotland. The fresh new menu could see that doubling, as new dishes will include a spicy king prawn cocktail, made with the best king prawns and a special homemade hot sauce. As well as chicken thighs in a Tony Macaroni secret recipe marinade and a mixed grill, both served with picante potatoes.

There is also a new spicy breaded chicken burger, which comes with fresh chilli, homemade spicy cheese sauce, diced garlic tomatoes, jalapeño and spicy burger ketchup. New pasta dishes include spaghetti con verdure verde, a modern classic with fresh green vegetables.

Our Group Head Chef, Danny O’Donnell said: “We pride ourselves on making all of our meals from scratch, using only the best and freshest ingredients. This is hugely important to the our chefs, as we want to have a reputation for serving great quality, family friendly, fresh food at affordable prices.

“This new menu will highlight this, and will include a number of new dishes using one of our most popular products, chilli. Scots love chilli and we believe they are beginning to understand the health benefits of eating it. There is no regional variation to it, customers in all of our Scottish restaurants eat chilli by the bucket load!

“Customers don’t need to worry, we will still be serving the Tony Macaroni best sellers, including our carbonara, which is made with fresh cream, specifically for our Scottish customers; four cheese macaroni; pizza toto, made with chicken, Italian sausage and pepperoni and pizza pollo picante, made with chicken and fresh chilli, along with the all the normal Italian favourites. The fresh new menu is available everywhere now. Take a look below at some of the recent footage showcasing the freshness and quality of our food.

World Cup Pizzas ⚽️

World Pizzas incoming!

We’re excited to unveil – over the duration of the #WorldCup2018 – a special pizza promotion. We are running 4 specially crafted pizzas during this summer’s world football event and first up we have England. This pizza is made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, our homemade macaroni cheese & parmesan all for only £9.95. Make sure you ask for this pizza during Thursday 14th June until Thursday 21st June. Harry Kane may thank you personally.

From the 22nd until the 28th it’s Portugal’s time to shine. Made with tomato & sweet chilli sauce, mozzarella, piri piri chicken, sweetcorn, green chilli, avocado and coriander this one is sure to be a winner like their star player CR7!

Sergio Ramos and his Spanish army are on offer during week 3 from the 29th of June to the 5th of July. Made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, chorizo, king prawns, red peppers, sweetcorn, red onion and garlic mayo this World Cup delight is surely going to be a winner with the Tony Macaroni fans.

Germany and Toni Kroos play out the remainder of the promotion from the 6th to the 15th July. We may have accidentally picked the winners in advance here but who knows. This German inspired pizza is made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Bratwust sausage, Cajun chips, fried red onions, ketchup and mayo.

There’s a New Italian in Town

Tony Macaroni, a long established, well respected Italian restaurant group comes to Bangor.

Tony Macaroni counts a number of award-winning chefs in their team and one of them is with us here in Bangor. Head Chef Chris Rouse was recently voted “Italian Restaurant Chef of the Year” at the Scottish Italian Awards. “I’m excited to be here and have the opportunity to share real Italian cooking with the people of Bangor. Northern Ireland is a beautiful country and I’ve always wanted to visit”

The Tony Macaroni ‘tag’ is Vive per Mangiare meaning ‘Live to Eat‘ and lets face it, who doesn’t, and their mantra is certainly one to be proud of – The freshest quality ingredients locally sourced, cooked with care and skill to the highest possible standards. Truly authentic Italian cuisine made to authentic Italian recipes with everything freshly prepared to order. You won’t find any frozen food here. Whether ordering from the Menu Presto, with dishes starting at just £4.95, a great deal it has to be said or ordering from the varied and extensive A la Carte menu, you can rest assured there is no compromise in care or quality.

The A la Carte menu really does cater for every taste, you certainly won’t find yourself stuck for choice. Classic Italian Starters, Crostino & Bruschetta, Sourdough Focaccia, Sourdough Pizza, Burgers, Ribs, Pasta & Risotto, classic meat dishes, market fresh Daily Fish Specials and some delicious Salad options.

But back to the Pizza. These pizzas are award-winning and deservedly so. It’s all about the dough, a secret sourdough recipe, matured for some 48 hours, prepared then perfectly fired in a searingly hot pizza oven by an experienced “pizzaiolo” (pizza chef to you & me) results in the most delicious real Italian pizza you’re ever likely to find. Proving very popular is the recent addition of a selection of B.B.Q. base pizzas, all very tempting and well worth a try.

Italians are well renowned for their love of children and the Tony Mac’ children‘s menu amply reflects this. Three courses for just £5.50… and while we’re talking about bargains, let’s not forget the Sunday Presto Menu, served all day every Sunday, a generous menu offering one course for £6.95, two courses for £10.95 and three courses for £14.95. For lunch, brunch or dinner, it’s the place to go.

Italian restaurants are famous for their friendly service and Tony Macaroni is no exception with smiling attentive staff eager and happy to please.

Christopher Bryce, the Tony Mac’ Area Manager echoes the sentiments of the Head Chef. “We’re so pleased to be here and have this opportunity to offer Bangor the Tony Macaroni dining experience we’re all so very proud of. I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new restaurant.”
